Building a Visitable Home

September 10, 2015  from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. (EST)

Join us for a panel discussion with national expert and Indiana resident, Kimberly Paarlberg, R.A., Senior Staff Architect in Technical Services with the International Code Council (ICC) on the technical aspects of visitable construction of single family homes, townhomes, duplexes and tri-plexes.

Indiana affordable housing leaders, Gina Leckron, Executive Director, Indiana Habitat for Humanity and Matthew Rayburn, Chief Real Estate Development Officer, Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority will review their respective agency’s new policies on visitable construction.

Deborah McCarty, Executive Director, Back Home in Indiana Alliance will serve as the moderator.

The panel will address frequently asked questions including:

•     What is a visitable home?

•     What is not a visitable home?

•     How expensive is it to include visitable features in a home?

•     What if the building site will not allow for a zero step entrance with an accessible route?

•     What if the home is built with a crawl space or basement?

•     Why has a visitablity requirement been adopted for the construction of new homes?

Time has been set aside within the webcast for participants to pose questions and offer commentary.
