BACK CITY WOODS / SWAIN AND THE HIGHWAY SOULS / KATO

****************************************

Back City Woods

Life in the forgotten South is all about the music... Our members are scattered across Middle GA. Back City Woods has been creating original music and playing exciting live shows throughout the Southeast for over a decade. We’ve won many awards (Best new band, best album, etc.) for our albums from the 11th Hour (a nightlife publication from Middle GA), named the Atlanta Braves band of the year, opened for Drive-By Truckers, Drivin N Cryin to name a few, and in 2013 created a festival in Macon, GA called The Roots Rock Showcase.

Swain and the Highway Souls

Since the band's inception in summer 2014, Swain and the Highway Souls has created a great deal of buzz and anticipation in the Middle Georgia music scene. While a relatively new band, the musicians comprising the group bring over 50 combined years of professional performance experience coupled with advanced levels of musical education, training, and preparation. Prior to leading the band, Stephen Swain blazed through the southeast, performing in top venues in Nashville, Atlanta, and Macon as a promising singer/songwriter. He continues to work with vocal coach Torri Barnette-Broxton (formerly of Miami Sound Machine) and Grammy-winning artist Linda Davis. Guitarist Miles Benson has a great deal of experience performing in a number of unique mediums, primarily as a result of his time earning a degree in Music Education and Music Therapy at the University of Georgia. He also continues to improve his craft through individual and collaborative songwriting. Cliff Walton, keyboardist for the band, has over 25 years of performance experience through a variety of ensembles that have traveled and performed throughout the country. The newest member of the band, bassist Joe Palmer, has been a vital member of the Macon music scene for quite a few years now. Growing up around the likes of Chris Hicks of Marshall Tucker Band, among others, Joe has a unique bass style that adds a great deal to the band's sound. Finally, drummer Galen Jacobs brings a solid foundation to the band after having experienced an eclectic drumming career that started with high school marching drumline, has included touring with the Josh Daniel Band, and continues to develop through the study of numerous styles and techniques which can be heard in the music of Swain and the Highway Souls.
