Event description

Description

Our next babe hike is set for three peaks: Mt. Lafayette, Mt. Lincoln, and Little Haystack Mountain in the White Mountains. This hike is the one that we had to change last winter due to some crazy weather, so we're circling back and trying again!

This hike spans three summits and at 9 miles round-trip, this will be a challenging hike. Please only sign up if you have moderate hiking experience and proper hiking gear.

The Plan:

We'll meet at the Lafayette Place Parking Lot off of I-93 at 6:45AM and hit the trail by 7:00AM.

We'll be taking Old Bridle Path for 0.2 miles until veering left to stay on Old Bridle Path for 2.9 miles. We'll continue onto Greenleaf Trail for 1.1 miles before hitting the exposed summit of Mt. Lafayette. The weather can be extreme and unpredictable here, so come prepared with warm, weather protective gear. Trail conditions could be cold and windy, and even rainy and icy, so come prepared with hardshell, waterproof outer layers. We'll continue onto the exposed Franconia Ridge Trail for 0.9 miles until we summit Mt. Lincoln. From there we'll keep walking the Franconia Ridge Trail for another 0.7 miles until we hit Little Haystack's summit. From there, we'll descend down the Falling Waters Trail for 3 miles until meeting with the Old Bridle Path, keeping left, and finishing out the last 0.2 miles to the trailhead.

If you know friends that will be attending the hike, please try to plan a carpool if you can. Dogs on leashes are allowed, and welcome to hike with us!

Directions, via 4000Footers.com:

The parking lot for this hike is located in Franconia Notch on I-93. You can park on either side of the Interstate, because there is a foot tunnel connecting the two.

If you are traveling North on I-93: Take the first exit after The Basin. After passing The Basin's parking lot, you will see a sign for Trail head parking 1/4 mile, this is where you should park.

If you are traveling South on I-93: Take the first exit after 34B called Lafayette Place Campground Trail head Parking. To begin the hike, follow the foot tunnel under I-93 to the parking lot on the opposite side of the highway.
