[BA Workbench] WordPress 101
Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM (PDT)
How can I setup a website in 5 minutes?
How can I create a professional portfolio and embed media into my site (photos, videos, audio, gallery)?
If you want to have an awesome site, WordPress will help you get there. WordPress is the most popular publishing platform – in fact, over 20% of new domains registered are running their sites on WordPress. Seriously. Musicians, photographers, creatives, magazine, and small business owners are all running their sites on WordPress – and you can too.
After this class is done, you’ll have your very own kick @$$ WordPress site, hosted on WordPress.com. We can also review how to setup WordPress on your own host, install plugins to extend its functionality, embed video, and setup photo galleries to display your work.
- Choosing a good WordPress hosting partner
- The difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org
- How to install plugins to extend functionality
- Embed video and add images to your site.
- Review the ecosystem of WordPress: Setup a working site on WordPress.com; Add photos and video to your About Page; Edit sidebars; Edit and update your menus.
