Event description

The 6th Annual Bridge 2 College (B2C) Tour will go out west again. The big difference? AchieveMeant Educational Solutions is partnering with Jamii Community Development Corporation (a non-profit), EBO Educational Services, and Streetz of Gentlemen to ensure that cost is not prohibitive. We still plan to visit at least 15 colleges and universities, tour some of the famous sites and attractions in California, Oregon, and Washington. We also plan to take the scenic route from Seattle back to Los Angeles by train.

B2C began because I noticed that despite how much potential my students had at Stockbridge High (and other schools) many had no understanding of what their opportunities were regarding schools for undergraduate and graduate programs. Many students in Atlanta were focusing on attending schools in Georgia and the surrounding states. Unfortunately when HOPE and Zell Miller never covered all of their expenses, students and their families would have to come up with the resources to cover their bill which usually resulted in loans. Many of my students that have attended the tour and left the state for their undergraduate degree are going to school for free or paying thousands less every year (usually at the private schools - both PWI and HBCU) compared to their classmates or peers who decided to attend state schools, in-state like the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern and other schools.

Although I'm big on STEM and the related programs, our visits work to ensure that students with varying interests are exposed and connected to the current college students, professors, and contacts at these schools in an attempt to ensure that they can compare what is available on this side of the country, with their current schools of interest, and what may exist closer to the Pacific Ocean.

At the moment, I'm still preparing for the 2018 College tour that takes place in September (we do this annually), but the list of schools that will definitely be on the tour in 2019 are:

University of California Los Angeles

California Institute of Technology

Charles R Drew University of Medicine and Science

Gnomon School of Visual Effects

Pepperdine University

Stanford University

University of California Berkeley

Academy of Art Institute

University of Oregon

Oregon State University

DigiPen Institute of Technology

University of Washington

Some of the sites that we will visit/tour are:

Los Angeles County Fair

Six Flags Magic Mountain

Apple Headquarters

Golden Gate Bridge

Redwood National & State Park

Nike World Headquarters

The Boeing Company

A trip like this is expensive. The cost, without fundraising through Jamii - a 501(c)(3) - would be $1,875 per student (or parent). To reserve a spot, you would pay $500 which I hope to return to you should we reach our fundraising goal of $90,000. Any shortfall between the fundraising goal and the $500 deposit would be the responsibility of the tour-goer and her/his family. I am working to muster up support from tour alumni and their families as well as individuals, businesses, and organizations in the community. I encourage you to do the same. Should the goal be reached, students and their families can have their deposit refunded ASAP or given to the tour-goer the day we take off for Los Angeles. Remind folks and any interested parties that donations for this tour are tax deductible.

If interested, I can provide a sponsorship letter from Jamii Community Development Corporation on the behalf of a student should an individual or entity desire to sponsor a student (or students). Send the request to

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Your deposit is transferable. We will assist you with finding someone who would pay you the $500 deposit which woud be a "refund"; however, we cannot guarantee that someone will replace your student or child.
