Performed by the Barnard-Columbia Chorus
The B Minor Mass is the only complete setting of the Latin Ordinary of the Mass composed by Bach. The first two sections were composed in 1733, while the remainder of the text was set to music in 1745. It is thought that Bach was interested in a post in Dresden, where the court was Roman Catholic. The piece was never heard in its entirety during Bach's lifetime, but today it is recognized as one of the great masterpieces of Western European art music.
