MTSU ALERT: The University is closed today, Jan. 12, due to inclement weather. The only exception will be for operations essential to public safety and service to on-campus residents. Employees who provide essential services should contact their supervisors if they feel conditions are too hazardous for them to travel. Check www.mtsu.edu/alertupdates for details and updates.

We are postponing and will give you updates as soon as we have them.

As data professionals, we all have a good understanding of our data platform options on-premises. With the cloud becoming a larger part of our day-to-day, we need to be prepared with an understanding of the services available to us. When we look at the data PaaS options in Azure, it seems like there are multiple services to do the same thing. Throughout the day, we will walk through the basic types of data services on-premises, and what the Azure equivalents are. As part of that, we’ll also cover which service is better in which scenarios. We’ll cover services like Azure SQL Database, SQL Data Warehouse, Data Factory (v1 and v2), CosmosDB, PowerBI, and Analysis Services, just to name a few. Attendees will learn how their current architecture would translate in to Azure PaaS options.
