About this Event

A Conversation with Ayana Elizabeth Johnson: Climate Science, Policy and Justice

"The most influential marine biologist of our time" (Outside), Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson kicks off The Great Northern’s climate solutions series with a conversation on climate science, policy and justice with Minnesota Public Radio’s Dan Kraker. This event is co-presented by the Westminster Town Hall Forum, whose mission is to engage the public in reflection and dialogue on the key issues of our day from an ethical perspective.

Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson is a marine biologist, policy expert, and Brooklyn native. She is founder of the non-profit think tank Urban Ocean Lab, founder and CEO of the consultancy Ocean Collectiv, and co-creator and co-host of the podcast How to Save a Planet. She co-edited the anthology All We Can Save, and co-founded The All We Can Save Project in support of women climate leaders. Johnson's mission is to build community around climate solutions. She is a passionate advocate for coastal communities, and builds solutions for ocean justice and our climate crisis.

This promises to be an incredible event on climate justice and what we can all do, and is presented free by the Westminster Town Hall Forum and The Great Northern. Watch online at the Town Hall Forum website, on YouTube, and on Facebook, as well as broadcast by Minnesota Public Radio.

The Great Northern celebrates our cold, creative winters through ten days of diverse programming that invigorate mind and body. In an era of changing climate that threatens our signature season, we seek to create community, inspire action, and share the resilient spirit of the North with the world.

The Westminster Town Hall Forum provides unique opportunities to explore the key issues of our day from an ethical perspective. In just an hour, our guest speakers will expand your mind, inform your views, maybe even change your perspective. During the covid-19 pandemic, all Forums will be online-only, and can be watched at our website, on YouTube, and on Facebook, as well as broadcast by Minnesota Public Radio. Forums are always free, and all are welcome.
