Awda Family Fundraiser
On November 1st, the Highlands Neighborhood church will fill with the beautiful sound of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and a live auction, all for the purpose of supporting the Awda family in settling into their new life in Edmonton. There will be music, delicious desserts and a live auction all for the sake of supporting this family's transition into Canadian life.
The Awda Family is a family of four: a Father (Iskandar), Mother (Marko) and Daughter (Nada) and Son (Nabil). The Awda family is currently living as refugees in Beirut, Lebanon. It has been over three years since they had to flee their home because of ISIS destroying their village. They are currently sharing an apartment with other families. Their current income is based on odd jobs and the generosity of their community. Iskandar is a farmer, Marko is a homemaker, Nada and Nabil are university students.
We are eager to reunite this family. As of just recently, Iskandar’s oldest son arrived in Edmonton with his wife and newborn child, who have been sponsored by Trinity Baptist Church in Sherwood Park. Please join us in keeping this family together as an act of love against the terror they have endured.
Your participation in this fun evening will give life to a family that has lost everything. Let's welcome them to Edmonton by showing them our warmest support!
