Event description

Description

“With warmth and humanity, Dr. Siegel gives us a brilliant summary of the new sciences of the mind that is fascinating, sometimes jaw-dropping, and always wonderfully useful.”

– Rick Hanson, PhD, author of Resilient

1440 Multiversity welcomes back renowned psychiatrist and mindfulness expert Dan Siegel, MD, for a discussion of his new book, Aware: The Science and Practice of Presence, followed by a book signing, in partnership with Bookshop Santa Cruz.

From the New York Times best-selling author of Brainstorm and Mindsight comes an in-depth look at the science that underlies meditation's effectiveness. In Aware, Dan Siegel reveals how developing a Wheel of Awareness to focus attention and cultivate kind intention can help you:

  • Grow a healthier brain

  • Reduce fear and anxiety

  • Manage stress

  • Feel more energized and emotionally resilient in the face of everyday challenges.

Aware is a hands-on guide for experienced meditators and those new to the practice.

Books will be available for purchase at the event, thanks to Bookshop Santa Cruz! Get your copy signed by Dr. Dan Siegel after this enlightening talk.

Your event ticket includes dinner at Kitchen Table, the heart of sustenance and connection on campus (where you’ll find plentiful options to meet a variety of dietary needs). Relax by the cozy fireplace or dine al fresco on our patio overlooking the lush redwoods.

Kitchen Table open for dinner: 5:30 – 7:00 pm.
