About this Event
How will you most benefit yourself with the energetic and physical effects of daylight savings? Come to the AWAKE Experience Retreat and spend the day transitioning Joyfully. Join Erik Vienneau, Jen Hicks and Jennifer Brock in a day of mindful practices to transition from winter to spring. Take this time to be still and go within to ensure that your internal world is aligned, strong and secure.
Erik Vienneau will offer talks on Mindfulness, Loving Kindness, Joy, Compassion and Equanimity. Erik leads with guided walking and seated meditaiion creating a mindful movement practice in a day of silent, internal reflection.
Jen Hicks will diffuse any stress of springing forward with an intelligently-sequenced power Vinyasa. guiding us to take a deep breath towards a more powerful practice. Expect to drop into the AWAKE experience with breath awareness, warm up the body with core and upper-body work, flow through invigorating standing and balance postures, and then cool down into savasana. Have fun as you attend to concentration, grow flexibility from wherever you are, and build strength while being present. Jen leads us to meet physical challenge with mindfulness, breath and joy. All levels are welcome with accessibility for newcomers and challenge and engagement for seasoned practitioners.
Jennifer Brock will cultivate an environment where students can learn to let go of things that are not serving them in life, as well as explore a deeper connection with their true authentic selves by building a strong mindfulness practice. After lunch, Jennifer will guide a Yin yoga class to help us slow us down from the "disease" of being busy, reconnect with inner truths, and truly hold space for ourselves. YIN yoga increases joint mobility and improves flexibility by applying moderate stress to the body's connective tissues (tendons, ligaments, and fascia). In a YIN class, expect to hold each posture passively for 2-5 minutes, supported with props and blankets. To create a relaxing environment, YIN classes are dimly lit and use soft music. YIN is practiced at room temperature and classes are suitable for all levels.
