About this event

8:30 a.m. - Session 1 - Led by Maggie McSchaefer, KPA-CTP, CAWA, this virtual webinar teaches us about the importance of the language we choose to describe and discuss animal behavior.  Behavior is often characterized through the lens of labels, constructs, and our own personal bias, which can impact the quality and clarity of the information we try to relay.  This session provides a dive into the words and concepts we rely on to communicate.

10 a.m. - Session 2 - Any event an animal experiences, shelter stays, veterinary care, encounters with animal control, can inherently limit an animal's ability to make choices. Allison Hartlage, KPA-CPT, CBCC-KA, CTC, CNWI, will discuss how an animal's performance is greatly influenced by its experiences while in your care. You will learn about the significance of choice in animal behavior and how we can work to enable more of it for the animals in our care.
