Pete Johnston writes: "Stranger Still is a song project that explores the words of Hants County Nova Scotia-born poet Alden Nowlan (1933-1983). Featuring Mim Adams and Randi Helmers (voice), Rob Clutton (bass), and Pete Johnston on guitar, Stranger Still is either deceptively odd or deceptively straightforward. Nowlan's rural lyricism is paired with music that combines plainspoken folk singing with medieval counterpoint, minimalism, progressive rock, and Scandinavian folk music. The resulting songs are an exploration of how my roots in rural Nova Scotia have shaped the music I've made since leaving for the big city in 2001."

Tena Palmer is at the forefront of jazz vocal improvisation in North America. For five years she fronted the Celtic/free bop quartet, Chelsea Bridge. Her voice and writing are featured on a dozen critically acclaimed CDs, seven making critics’ annual top ten list. Called “the most creative vocalist in Canadian free improvisation” (Toronto Life Magazine), Tena tours and records in avant pop, roots, experimental, Brazilian, jazz, minimalism, electronica, Celtic, and spoken word. Performance highlights include New York ’s Blue Note Club, Montreal’s Salle Wilfred Pelletier, Molde Jazz Fest, Norway and Festival International de Musique Actuelle. More at www.tenapalmer.net

Exhilarating jazz pianist/improviser Marilyn Lerner performs to acclaim internationally, from her native Montreal to Havana, from Jerusalem to Amsterdam and the Ukraine. Her groundbreaking recordings have garnered recognition, including "Best Western Jazz Recording 2004" for her "Special Angel" duo with legendary guitarist Sonny Greenwich.
