AUTOMATED LICENSE PLATE READER (ALPR) Technology and Procedures

This course is designed to educate attendees on all aspects of Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology. The training relates to all facets of law enforcement from the intelligence analyst, the ALPR administrator to the operator deploying the ALPR equipment. This class covers ALPR technology and databases available to law enforcement; highlighting the legal aspects and best deployment practices. This course showcases all features of ALPR technology utilizing real world scenarios. Students will be shown an alternative to deploying the traditional law enforcement ALPR model focusing on the integration of commercial ALPR data with an existing ALPR program. ALPR technology is utilized by over 75% of all law enforcement agencies with little to no formal training; this course will identify best practices in using the data covering the legal aspects. Attendees will see the effect of using robust analytical tool’s within the ALPR database, maximizing your investigative efforts in almost every component of the job. The diversity of the database will be demonstrated in both areas of field enforcement and investigations. At the conclusion of the class, each attendee will retain access to the commercial ALPR database which consists of 6.2 billion records with logon credentials for a period of 30 days.
STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING:
- LAPTOP (The last 2 hours of the course is hands on utilizing the ALPR commercial database)
- LICENSE PLATE NUMBERS RELATED TO INVESTIGATIONS OR SCENARIOS WHERE A VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE IDENTIFIED
- Attendee’s jurisdictions will be actively monitored during class demonstrating ALPR technology using live ALPR data.
