Event description

Description

Visit two private collections—Tom Martin’s array of ‘50s and ‘60s autos in a museum-like setting and Norman Deckard’s five crème of the crop cars ranging from a 1913 Rambler to a 1955 bright pink and snow white Crown Victoria. Carl Cook will show his replica of the only 1897 Howe Horseless Carriage—a car made in Bloomington (he calls his Series 2)—and hosts lunch at Fountain Square Ballroom on the courthouse square.

After lunch, we’ll head to Tom Martin’s private auto museum where he keeps his large, eclectic collection, primarily ‘50s and ‘60s cars with some older and some newer. His favorites—unrestored survivors—include a ’63 Ford Country Squire wagon, a ’60 Impala convertible, and a ’56 T-bird with only 3,000 miles on the odometer. Petroleum-related artifacts—neon and other signs, gas pumps and more—add to the atmosphere.

The tour is sponsored by Indiana Automotive, an affinity group of Indiana Landmarks.
