Autism in the Community:
Training, Employment, and Safety

Join the Greater Detroit Area Health Council (GDAHC) and Health Management 'Systems of America (HMSA) for a review of Autism in the Community. Joined by the Autism Alliance of Michigan, the Judson Center, and Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), we will explore opportunities for organizations to welcome individuals on the autism spectrum into their workplaces, discuss the roll safety personnel have in community interactions, and the developing field of Certified Behavior Analyst.

Event Topics:

Autism in Review: Where are we now? How has diagnosis changed, and what assistance is available for children with autism transitioning into adults?

The need for Board Certified Behavioral Analysts and technicians has increased as has the rise in diagnoses. How has this field changed over the years, and where is it going?

How does awareness in the public need to evolve to become more inclusive, and what is the role of safety personnel in the equation?

Transitioning into the Workforce: A Panel Discussion
Learn from industry experts on training available to those in the autism community who want to work as well as employers who want to offer an inclusive environment. Hear from local corporations on how they have opened their doors to new opportunities to expand their teams and changed their organizations by hiring employees on the spectrum.
