Event description

Description

This is the 4th year ASVC has offered this essential training and we highly recommend everyone attends it once every few years.

Thursday, January 18th = English Seminar, 6-9pm
Friday, January 19th = Spanish Seminar, 6-9pm

Learn what you can do to help law enforcement and other emergency personnel interact with your child or adult relative with Autism in an emergency.

  • If you were in a car accident or other emergency with your child and you were unable to respond, would your child on the spectrum know what to do?

  • If your child went missing, do you know what you can do to help law enforcement find your loved one as soon as possible?

  • Why is self-disclosure of the Autism diagnosis crucial in emergencies?

Parents, Adults with Autism, Family Members and Service Providers are invited to attend this free seminar hosted by the Autism Society Ventura County. Retired Detective Brian Herritt, who is also a parent of a young man with Autism, is returning to provide important advice to families and individuals with Autism that can save lives. He will be training members of law enforcement in the morning, and then dedicating the evening sessions to families.

*Free onsite childcare is available to a limited number of children and will be provided by professional respite care staff. RSVPs for seminar attendance and for childcare are required. Free childcare available with RSVP by Jan. 12th.

Thank you to our collaborators: VC Law Enforcement Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) & TCRC Rainbow Connection Family Resource Center
