Authors Group Presents Chris Hayes
Fri, March 31, 2017, 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM CDT
In his new book, A Colony in a Nation, Emmy Award–winning news anchor and New York Times best-selling author Chris Hayes argues that there are really two Americas: a Colony and a Nation.
America likes to tell itself that it inhabits a post-racial world, but nearly every empirical measure―wealth, unemployment, incarceration, school segregation―reveals that racial inequality hasn’t improved since 1968. With the clarity and originality that distinguished his prescient bestseller Twilight of the Elites (“a stunning polemic,” said Ta-Nehisi Coates), award-winning journalist Chris Hayes offers a powerful new framework in which to understand our current crisis.
Chris Hayes hosts “All In with Chris Hayes” on MSNBC. Hayes is also editor-at-large of The Nation. Previously, Hayes hosted the weekend program “Up w/ Chris Hayes,” which premiered in 2011. Prior to joining MSNBC as an anchor, Chris had previously served as a frequent substitute host for “The Rachel Maddow Show” and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.” Chris became an MSNBC contributor in 2010 and has been withThe Nation since 2007.
The cost per person is $42 and the event begins with an 11:30 a.m. reception, followed by lunch and the program at noon. Books for autographing will be available for purchase at the event from The Book Stall.
