AUTHOR-CON is a CELEBRATION OF LITERATURE designed to CONNECT readers, authors and professionals in the field UNDER ONE ROOF!

About this Event

COVID-19 VIRUS...

We trust that the virus that has thrown the world into current chaos will be contained by August, and have decided to move forward with this event. Our hearts go out to all of you who have been affected by this in some way. If the event needs to be cancelled, rest assured that your investment will be gifted to a future event.

WHAT THIS EVENT CONSISTS OF...

THE TOP BILLING: We are so excited that Daniel Handler has accepted our invitation to speak, not once...but twice at this event! You can hear him at 12:20 pm MST on both days. Daniel is best known for his book, movie starring Jim Carey, and television series: A Series of Unfortunate Events. I'm told that he'll play his accordion for us so get ready for a real treat!

THE FESTIVAL: The festival part of this event will be held in Hall 5 from 10:00 am - 11:00 pm MST on both days. Here readers will find connection with celebrity and local authors, ask questions to author expert panels, purchase books and have them autographed, mingle in sofa sections, experience attractions and interactive activities, browse through vendor booths, and enjoy fanfare and concessions.

THE VIP SESSION: The VIP Session part of this event is tentatively planned from 5:25 - 7:55 pm MST in the Eagle Room. There will be two VIP sessions, one on Friday, and one on Saturday. Each will consist of a catered dinner with a rotating author seated at each table; and an Emperor's Swag Bag.

THE CONFERENCE: The conference part of this event will be held from 8:30 -11:25 am MST in the breakout rooms on both days. Students, writers, and aspiring authors will find training, inspiration, and motivation in our conference-style setting. There will be 3 speakers to choose from every 40 minutes with a 15-minute break in-between. Learn writing, publishing, and marketing tips from professionals in their fields. Hear from motivational speakers, life coaches, health experts, and organizers on developing the mind, habit, and skill sets needed to become a successful author and entrepreneur.

THE SPEAKERS: Chris Heimerdinger is back! He'll be speaking and doing book signings. We are in negotiations with Leslie Householder and Richard Paul Evans. If there is someone you want to see there, now is the time to let us know. Contact Rebecca at: rebeccaenglesmith@gmail.com.

THE AUTHOR EXPERT PANELS: Author expert panels are scheduled for 11:40 am and 4:45 pm MST on both days, for 40 minutes each. Readers and authors alike may write a list of questions and present them to our author experts.

THE DISCOVERY CORNER: Discovery Corner interactive activities will be held in the Eagle Room, and scheduled throughout the event. Children and youth will love these interactive activities mainly provided by teachers, librarians, and authors. Sit in the reading corner for a good story, create a princess gown, or build a dragon. There will be no shortage of creativity here!

THE VENDOR BOOTHS: The vendor booths are found in Hall 5 and manned from 10:00 am - 11:00 pm MST on both days. There will be author group vendors, author single vendors, fanfare vendors, and life-style vendors. Also enjoy various attraction booths scattered throughout.

THE CONTESTS AND GIVE-A-WAYS: Get creative with our Character Coloring Contest. Send your colored picture of any book character to our Author-Con address before midnight on 14 August 2020 so that our artist can find a winner. Or maybe you prefer taking part in our Character Costume Contest. Dress up in your favorite character and maybe you'll take home the prize. Purchase a give-a-way ticket, and win a free book! During the festival part of the event, there will be one book given away each hour.

CHILD LITERACY BOOKCASES: Bring your used books to the event and place them on the bookcases that will be provided. If you need books in your home, take some. What is left will be donated to charities which promote child literacy.

TICKETING...

FESTIVAL TICKETING: The festival tickets consist of an Adult 1-Day Pass, an Adult 2-Day Pass, a Youth 1-Day Pass, and a Youth 2-Day Pass. Children aged 8 and under are free. This includes the entrance fee, the attractions, the Discovery Corner, the stage speakers, the author expert panels, and the vendor booths. Get in on Insane Early Bird tickets on sale NOW through April! Early Bird ticket sales run from May-July. No worries. If you miss the sales, the Regular ticket price during August and at the door is still a great investment!

VIP TICKETING: The VIP Session investment includes a catered dinner, mingling with authors, and an Emperor's Swag Bag.

CONFERENCE TICKETING: You won't regret investing in the conference section of this event. You'll hear great speakers for one low investment. Don't forget your pass, you'll need to show it at the doors.

SPEAKERS, AUTHOR EXPERT PANELS, EXHIBITORS, & VENDOR BOOTHS...

REQUESTED SPEAKERS: If you are an author with a large following or a strong draw for our Utah based audience, and you would like to speak at this event, we want to hear from you!

SPONSOR SPEAKERS: The speaker sponsor fee for this event is $1,000. The subject must be consistent with what an author needs to succeed. Approved promotions will be accepted.

AUTHOR PANELISTS: We are looking for authors who feel comfortable participating on a 40-minute, open panel where questions will be taken from the audience.

VENDORS: Author and life-style vendors can book 10 x 10 pipe & drape booth rental spaces now through the end of May. There are 4 priced vendor booths to choose from, ranging from $197 - $387. Authors take a 20% discount making it $157.60 - $309.60. There are also group vendor table space spots available for $47.50 for a 2 1/2-foot space, and $89 for a 4-foot space.
