You will be part of a community of authors who share your passion and who have learned firsthand how the 50 Interviews concept works. Who you are need not be determined by your past, but rather the future you choose to live into. By surrounding yourself with those you admire (of whom you will interview) AND those who support you through project completion (50 Interviews Inc. and it's community of authors), you will literally rewrite your future one interview at a time. Who you become is who you define yourself to be at the onset of this endeavor. The 50 Interviews community you join doesn't know you any other way. This is an important yet subtle distinction.

6 phases provide each author the tools and know how to complete a 10 or 25 interviews book by the end of the project.

Author community calls occur every Wednedsay evening from 6:45pm-8 MDT and take place online (via GoToMeeting).

All calls are recorded and posted for replay if an author can’t attend a particular date.

High level outline of the six phases each author goes through:

Phase 1: Coming up with the topic. Defining your Niche. Identifying the first interviewees. Determining the questions. Brainstorming possible titles. Interviewing skills. An introduction to the technology used to record the interviews (either in person or by phone). How to use the document repository to upload files and manage the workflow. Setting up your email. Successful strategies to fund a portion of the production cost by interviewees. Planning for PR (Publicity) in the beginning and lessons learned for those who've already published.

Phase 2: Creating your wordpress blog (hosted at [subdomain] Building a following. Getting on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Posting excerpts from the interviews, other standard pages (about, questions, interviewees, consent, etc.). Getting the interviews transcribed, edited, and laid out for digital release. Strategies to find more people to interview (in case anyone is getting stuck).

Phase 3: Focused on getting the interviews done and keeping up on editing. By now, each author should have at least 1-2 interviews complete. We’ll discuss best practices, critique some of the work submitted thus far. Begin working on the cover.

Phase 4: Setting up an affiliate program, inviting interviewees to join. Uploading the completed interviews to Kindle. Editing best practices. Optional: Setting up a forum & membership site.

Phase 5: Proven strategies for getting publicity for yourself and your book. Writing press releases. Using media lists. Building buzz in anticipation of a release date. The right combination of offline & online media. Finding speaking opportunities.

Phase 6: Finalize release date. Creating a PR campaign uniquely suited to reaching your audience. Tips to sell more books when speaking. Ongoing orders will be fulfilled through distribution. Royalty payment arrangements.
