On the 24th May we will be running a discussion panel that draws in on the state of our live music scene and what that means for our young artists, industry and community as a whole.

It will be a great networking opportunity! Come along and join in on the conversation with some of our leading industry experts.

AUSTRALIAN LIVE MUSIC SCENE: are we thriving or diving?
Industry experts will examine our live music industry and dissect where we are at and the direction we are going. With recent changes like the lockout laws, funding cuts and the impact of failed events and legislation's over the years - what does this mean for our emerging artists? Is our scene still viable?

Presented by Vyva Entertainment, 4Elements Music Project, GetSmART and Bankstown Arts Centre.

BIOS
Nate Farrell: Owner/ Director - Nathan Farrell Entertainment (NFE): Nathan cut his teeth in a variety of roles at Frontier Touring Company, Austereo, MTV Australia, & Jo Walker Project Management before founding NFE in 2004. Since then, Nathan has independently promoted international tours for artists including Grammy Award Winner Jon Cleary & New Orleans icon Allen Toussaint, has carefully nurtured the careers of many acts including Sydney HipHop outfit Thundamentals & also music programming for several iconic Sydney venues like The Basement.
Kathryn Holloway: General Manager - Cattleyard Promotions (Groovn The Moo (GTM)/ THE PLOT festivals): Kat’s role with GTM started in 2006 and has evolved from Publicist to her current role as General Manager of the 6 show regional tour. In addition to building her role with GTM, Kathryn spent 7 years with ABC Radio coordinating a music project and worked with jonesPR, Perth International Arts Festival, Sydney Festival, Gadigal Music, Mona Foma, Dark Mofo and ABC Music on a range of album releases, events, programs &tours.
John Wardle: Director - Live Music Office: John has a background in live music policy across the 3 tiers of government and is a working musician & music teacher. John was appointed Chair of the City of Sydney’s Live Music and Performance Taskforce before the establishment of the Live Music Office in July 2013. As Live Music Office Director, John works closely with the music industry & state & local governments across Australia to develop coordinated centre of government live music policy and strategy.
John Khilla/DJ MK-1: Artist/ Dj, Activist, Radio Host & School Teacher: An authentic, hardworking, innovative and historic radio / club / tour DJ’s, with a grind that is almost impossible to keep up with. In between churning out ground-breaking Mixtapes, to touring the country as support DJ for HipHop act L-FRESH The Lion (Voted as best new HipHop on MTV World), to hosting his famed HipHop radio show ‘The Sounds of the Zulu Nation’ on Bondi Beach Radio.
