Australia - India knowledge Exchange Workshop on “Smart Energy Management”
Event Information
Description
UNSW Faculty of Built Environment (FBE) is organising a series of Australia - India knowledge exchange events in collaboration with its friends and partners, and with support from UNSW.
The aim of the knowledge exchange series is to build new partnerships between Australia and India, and more broadly in the Asia Pacific, and thereby foster a network of knowledge exchange, a culture of sharing best practices, and generation of new knowledge to move towards a holistic vision of the Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The final part of the four planned workshops (2 in India, 2 in Australia) will be held on the March 29th, 2019 at UNSW Sydney. The theme of this final workshop is “Smart Energy Management”.
Here is the blurb for the final event we are organizing now in Sydney:
Cities are facing a series of complex and interconnected challenges related to rapid urbanization, climate change and energy issues. It is imperative that urban challenges such as mobility, building design and construction, accessibility to reliable and clean energy, provision of green and resilient infrastructure and waste management are addressed by adopting the principles of smart energy management to achieve the goals of sustainable development. It is important to plan for policies that can manage energy demand in cities in the coming decades and can influence future carbon emissions. Alongside, there needs to be support for cutting-edge technologies, innovative planning and design, and emerging strategies that can enhance both financial and technical capacities of the cities. To this end, part four in UNSW Built Environment’s ‘Australia India Knowledge Exchange Workshop Series’ is ‘Smart Energy Management for Sustainable Cities’. This workshop is being organised by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), India and UNSW with support from Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) and industry partners Mahindra Group and DuPont India Pvt. Ltd.
We intend to hear stories, examples and interests from the speakers’ area of expertise or experiences.
