Innovations in vineyard greening implementation and green infrastructure services.
About this event
Vineyard greening involves the introduction of non-vine vegetation within vineyards that supports vineyard ecosystem health in addition to providing benefits to grape vine production and wine sales. This unprecedented symposium addresses the topic of innovations in vineyard greening, designing biodiversity-based wine grape production systems in support of a wide variety of ecosystem services including improved pest management, soil retention and quality, micro-climate, water quality, indigenous biodiversity, carbon sequestration, terroir, wine branding and sales, and agri-tourism.
With this symposium we aim to provide a platform to exchange cutting-edge science and down to earth implementation to support practitioners and help shaping new research ventures.
Research presented will focus on innovations from New Zealand and Australia; however we welcome researchers and practitioners from other countries as well. The topic has been conceptualised as broad, open-ended, interdisciplinary and highly inclusive for participants from a variety of disciplines including (however, not exclusively) landscape architecture, viticulture, ecology, marketing and tourism. In addition, we welcome vineyard managers and owners, who have implemented greening within their vineyards, to share their experiences.
