Overview

The Oxford American is excited to announce a FREE concert celebrating the launch of its Austin Live! Music Issue + Vinyl LP.

The Oxford American is excited to announce the second of two launch events celebrating the release of its Austin Live! Music Issue + Vinyl LP on Sunday, December 14, at the legendary Antone’s Nightclub in Austin, Texas [305 E 5th St.], featuring a DJ Set by Adrian Quesada and a live performance by The Point.

This event is free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged.

Doors open at 6:00pm, and event goers can meet and greet OA editors, listen to the Austin Live! compilation album, explore the venue, purchase a copy of the issue + vinyl, and check out the newly released merch collection.

Music begins at 7:00pm with a DJ set by Adrian Quesada. A lifelong Texan, Adrian is an adventurous musician best known as the co-founder, guitarist, and producer of the seven-time GRAMMY-nominated band Black Pumas. His prolific career has seen him collaborate with the likes of Prince, Los Lobos, and Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA. He has also been a member of such eclectic bands as GRAMMY-winners Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, and Ocote Soul Sounds. Quesada also runs Electric Deluxe Recorders in Austin, TX, the studio where Black Pumas and numerous others have recorded.

Next up is a live show featuring The Point., a genre-blending musical trio. Despite their influences ranging from across the world, The Point. are a band that could only have started in Austin. Fusing psychedelia, Saharan guitar music, and cumbia with jam-band sensibilities, the trio creates a laid-back vibe that’s more than the sum of its parts. Their latest, Maldito Animal (Deluxe Edition), finds the band exploring new directions, the aural equivalent of a crate-digger showing off their collection, a panoply of taste culled into one source.

Special thanks to presenting partner, Antone’s Nightclub, with additional support for and presence at the launch event from The Metropolis Apartments and the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM).
