TOPIC: Technology/Artificial Intelligence
Manoj is founder and managing partner of a $100 million seed stage fund focused exclusively on cognitive computing and machine intelligence software companies. TEF has eight active investments all in artificial intelligence.
Manoj was general manager of IBM’s Watson project and remains a special advisor to IBM. In addition, he is the former CEO and founder of two successful venture funded software start-ups which were acquired by IBM (2006) and by CommerceOne (2001).

Darrell brings more than 20 years of experience in business operations, franchise compliance and personnel management to the world’s largest real estate franchise by agent count. Prior to becoming COO, Darrell served as Commitment Director holding Keller Williams’ local and regional leadership teams accountable. He has also ensured legal and financial compliance for more than 700 businesses, helping drive the company’s record growth.
As a member of Keller Williams’ executive leadership team, Darrell focuses on helping the business divisions within Keller Williams execute plans to meet established goals.
Darrell is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
Gordon has seen nearly 1,000 startup pitches, given personal advice to more than 200 entrepreneurs and been involved with raising over $40M in private and venture capital. He spent the first ten years of his career in brand name companies like IBM and Compaq and then progressively gravitated towards early stage and high growth companies. Gordon spent eight years in the videoconferencing industry, including four years as President of a company that grew to $36M and went public on the Euronext stock market.
Through his advisory practice called Shockwave Innovations and at Capital Factory, Gordon is an active angel investor, VC and startup advisor.
Gordon received his Computer Science degree from Baylor University.
Tom Kelly, Ph.D., Director – Center for Business & Economic Research, Professor of Economics
TOPIC: Regional Economy
Dr. Kelly has developed annual economic forecasts for the Central Texas economy since the early 1980s, leading to a deep understanding of business activity in the region and its connection to national and global conditions. He provides data and insight to prospective investors in Central Texas and regularly contributes his views through the local media. His bi-monthly consumer price index for Central Texas is used by many employers and property owners to adjust wages and rents. He consults continuously with civic leaders, bankers, purchasing managers, home builders, and others about local business conditions.
David provides strategic and operational oversight for BAN. David leverages more than two decades of experience as a business lawyer and senior corporate executive for companies across all stages of the business life cycle, from start-ups to multinational public companies. His experience includes executive leadership roles with responsibility for domestic and international lines of business, worldwide corporate development, strategic planning and global business development. David has a deep passion for entrepreneurship, which accelerated when he served as one of the early employees of Travelocity. David went on to play a key role in Travelocity’s rapid growth, international development, strategic transactions, successful public event (NASDAQ: TVLY) and subsequent going-private transaction. David will moderate the Q&A portion of the program.
