Event description

Description

One of the primary missions of Chef Outta Water is to collaborate with others. This Aussie barbecue brings together Baked Alaska's Chef Chris Holen as he hosts Australian Chef Michael Brine. We have partnered with Astoria's Buoy Beer to create a custom crafted beer influenced by the flavors of Tropical North Queensland and the cost of admission even includes a couple of pints. We are collaborating with Gully's Butcher Shop to offer what might be the world's first Crocodile Bratwurst and perhaps even a cheeky bit of roo. As is tradition of the Aussie Barbecue, there will be shrimp, lamb, beef and a multitude of side dishes to round out the meal.

Chef Outta looks forward to bringing the flavors from Tropical North Queensland all the way to Astoria, Oregon in a true collorative effort. This casual and high energy event will take place on the outdoor patio of the Baked Alaska Annex located on the Astoria waterfront. Great food, great beer and great conversation are guaranteed.

About our Guest Chef: Chef Michael Brine is Partner and Executive Chef at the restaurant "Touch of Salt" located in the city of Townsville, North Queensland, Australia. Chef Michael will be challenged with cooking up Australian flavors using Northwest United States products.

Michael commenced his hospitality career at the age of 16, working as a kitchen hand at the Sheraton Breakwater Casino-Hotel whilst he was still at secondary school. It was during this time that he developed a love for cooking and gained a thirst for the hospitality industry. Michael was offered an apprenticeship as a chef at the Sheraton Breakwater Casino-Hotel and remained there throughout his entire apprenticeship learning valuable skills from the extremely professional kitchen team of a renowned 5-star hotel. Since 2005, as owner and Executive chef of a Touch of Salt, Michael has been associated with many prestigious events within Townsville and led the first Townsville Sister Cities Chef Exchange to Suwon Korea in 2015. Michael has hosted Chinese, Korean and United States of American chefs at this restaurant and at the Taste of the North, Townsville's premier food event. He takes immense pride in the hospitality industry and the Northern Queensland Region.
