Description

The annual Baroque Concert takes center stage on August 9, featuring the Festival Chamber Orchestra.

Performing as soloists on this special concert with be Detroit Symphony flutist, Jeff Zook, Marie Wang - Avalon String Quartet’s violinist, and famous harpsichordist David Schrader.

Under the baton of Thomas Wikman, founder of Chicago’s Music of the Baroque, two well-known and loved works will be featured: Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No.5 in D major and Mozart's Serenade No. 13 in G Major, K 525 - Eine kleine Nachtmusik, and Concerto grosso in G minor, Op. 6, No. 8 by Arcangelo Corelli, known commonly as the Christmas Concerto.

David Schrader is equally at home in front of a harpsichord, organ, piano, or fortepiano, and is "truly an extraordinary musician ... (who) brings not only the unfailing right technical approach to each of these different instruments, but always an imaginative, fascinating musicality to all of them" (Norman Pelligrini, WFMT, Chicago). He has appeared as a soloist on organ and on harpsichord with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, having performed under the direction of Sir Georg Solti, Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez and Erich Leinsdorf. He has also appeared with many orchestras throughout the USA and Canada.

Tickets are only $10 and are available in advance at the Book Nook & Java Shop (8726 Ferry St., Montague, 231-894-5333), on-line at Eventbrite.com, and at the door.
