Event description

Description

Abstract: This presentation will include insights into the history, current state and outlook for the Australian oil and gas industry. Australia is globally recognised as a prime destination for hydrocarbon exploration and production. In recent years, significant petroleum discoveries have been made in Australia and many new development projects are proceeding rapidly to the production phase.

Growth brings many challenges as large-scale investments in Australia impact local populations, the business community and government policy. The presentation will touch on the Australian Government’s response to these challenges, including lessons learned from the recent commodity super-cycle, and current programs being implemented to facilitate the next investment boom in Australia.

Our Speaker: Based in Houston, Patrick manages the Australian Consulate General to Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma with a team of business development and consular staff. He is also responsible for leading the Australian Government’s Energy and Natural Resources investment and trade promotion team in the United States and Canada. Patrick was previously the Trade Commissioner for Southern Africa, based in Johannesburg, South Africa and a senior adviser to the former Australian Minister for Trade and Competitiveness, where he worked with Australian businesses seeking to enter new markets.
