Event description

Description

This fall, Chorus pro Musica presents a new major work on an unconventional subject: the great naturalist J.J. Audubon.

Born in Haiti in 1785 to a French sea captain and his Créole mistress, John James Audubon became a celebrated American frontiersman and artist, famous for his portraits of the birds of America in their native habitats. Audubon’s amazing life and accomplishments are brought to life in a new full-length multimedia oratorio, commissioned by Chorus pro Musica from acclaimed composer James Kallembach, that features baritone soloist, full orchestra, and stunning video-graphic images by Boston’s Ball Square Films. The libretto uses Audubon’s own words to vividly depict the beauty, vastness and abundance of the North American frontier that he so loved—and to express his prescient call to preserve that great natural heritage.

This concert is presented in partnership with Mass Audubon, an independent (and first) Audubon Society that has been protecting the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife since 1896.

Group discounts available for 6+ tickets. Please contact 617-267-7442 for more information.
