Auditions for The 39 Steps
Director Sarah Walker Thornton will hold auditions on Dec. 11 and 12th at the Cloverdale Playhouse.
Sign up from 6:30-7pm. Auditions begin at 7pm.
Our Story: THE 39 STEPS is a creative theatrical adaptation of the novel turned Alfred Hitchcock film. Richard Hannay, bored in London, meets a mysterious woman who says she’s a spy.
When she is murdered in his flat, he is accused, and the only way to clear his name is to uncover the meaning of the “39 Steps,” a secret she spoke of with her dying breath. A manhunt ensues. Hannay, unsure of whom he can trust, crisscrosses England and Scotland on a thrilling adventure involving “train chases, plane crashes, shadowy murders, beautiful spies, trilbied heavies, dastardly villains” and of course love, as he races against time to save England and the world.
Character Breakdown All of the characters in the show are portrayed by these 4 actors.
This is a fast-paced, ridiculous comedy that requires a cast of actors who are versatile, skilled with physical comedy and characterization, and most importantly, are willing to PLAY. Three of the actors will speak in a handful of different dialects, so a strong ear for accents and/or willingness to learn accents is a major plus.
