Event description

Welcome Competitors,

Au79 welcome you to the first annual Au79 Latte Art Smackdown. With some of the best artitsts around and beers on the night, it is an event not to miss.

64 competitors knock out format with a $5 buy in.

1st place: $600 cash prize, 250g Au79 Filter Coffee, Hario v60 cone piece /Hario v60 02 cup filter papers / Kinto Mug

2nd place: 250g Au79 filter coffee, Hario v60 cone piece/Hario v60 02 cup filter papers / Kinto Mug

3rd place: 250g Au79 filter coffee

Judges: Chris Fahy (Au79), David Boudrie (FTA coffee), Nick Perry (Grinders Coffee)

- An Au79 staff member will pull all coffee shots on the night.

- You get one coffee and one pitcher of milk.

- You are allowed to bring your own jug and are allowed to split your milk prior to pouring

- All competitors will spin the latte art wheel for that head to head round.

- Cups used on the night will be the Acme 6oz cappachino cup and Acme 2oz demitase

- At the start of the round, a pattern will be decided upon by wheel, whatever pattern is picked, you must pour your interpretation of that pattern.

- At no point can a competitor pour the same style of pattern more than once. (cant pour invert swans in round one and also round two if swans are the designated pattern for the round, this forces you to be an OG not a copy paster)

- Winner moves onto the next round.

- Order determine by names pulled from a hat prior to the event

- In the final round competitors will pour into a 6oz and a 2oz.

- in the final round(1st to 4th) competitors will have to pour the same pattern in both cups, eg if you pour a 6 leaf in the 2 oz, you must replicate that in the 6oz as well. Extra points will be awarded for the ability to make both patterns in varying cups similar. Competitors must be smart in selecting a pattern that can be reproduced in both a large and smaller cup

- the final round will be a free pour pattern

- during the competition, judges are focusing on: symmetry/contrast/creativity/definition/complexity

- with a greater desire for cleanliness/symmetry rather than complexity. (80 tulips into a cup might not beat a nice 12 stack)

Pattern Styles that will be on the disk are:

- swans

- tulips

- rosetta

- invert

- freepour

After registering for the event, Chris Fahy from Au79 coffee will be in contact to collect some more details about you for the night.

Good luck too all and we look forward to hosting you on the night.
