Description

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), with collaboration with the Office of Graduate Studies and Research (OGSR), and Grants and Contracts Accounting (GCA), will host the inaugural Researcher Open House at Spring Valley (4801 Massachusetts Avenue NW) on Tuesday, October 24, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.

Faculty and staff are invited to and learn more about how the offices assist the campus in its quest to achieve research goals.

Staff from all offices will be on hand to answer questions about the following topic areas:

Award Review & Acceptance
Learn more about the review of external awards and some of the key areas that can require negotiation.


Communications: Newsletters, Listservs, & Websites
Find the important research information you need. Learn about various methods of communication for research administration.


Human Subjects Research / IRB
Speak with Matt Zembrzuski, Research Compliance Manager, to find out if your research needs IRB review and if so, how to submit and obtain approval.


Internal Funding Opportunities
The Office of Graduate Studies has funding available to support research and creative activities. Learn about the different types of funding available and information about applying.


Grant Writing Consultants
Get information from the Office of Graduate Studies about the Grant Writing consultants and workshops offered by Ralph Pollack.


Proposal Review & Submission
One function of the Office of Sponsored Programs is to review proposals for compliance with university/agency regulations and solicitation requirements, as well as serving as the official institutional signatory for proposal submissions. Learn about various agency systems and assistance that can be provided on the next proposal submission.


Training & Workshops
Find out what types of training OSP, OGSR, and GCA offer and how to receive training.


Vice Provost for Research and Dean of Graduate Studies, Dr. Jonathan Tubman, will welcome attendees at 11:30 a.m. and briefly discuss the research enterprise at AU.

Beginning at noon, attendees can choose to view alternating presentations on Pivot, AU’s comprehensive database of funding opportunities and researcher profiles, and Cayuse Research Suite, a pair of software applications used in the process of preparing and submitting grant and contract proposals.

Those who register online by October 8 and sign in on the day of the day of the Researcher Open House will be eligible to win one of four prizes!

Lunch will be provided.
