Moodle allows you monitor attendance at classes by making use of the Attendance activity. This activity is essentially an online roll. You can add one Attendance activity for each Moodle module and within this activity you can identify the days, times and duration of classes for the duration of the module. You can then use the tool to record attendance at these classes throughout the module. If you wish, students can be permitted to mark their own attendance.
The Progress Bar is a time-management tool for students, which can increase engagement by visually showing the activities/resources a student is supposed to interact with in a Moodle module. It is colour coded so students can quickly see which activities/resources they have and have not completed/viewed.
The teacher selects which pre-existing activities/resources are to be included in the Progress Bar and when they should be completed/viewed. The teacher can see an overview page showing the progress of all students in a class, which may be helpful in identifying students who may be at risk.
