Event description

Description

We're excited to announce our third AtoM Camp, cohosted by the University of Toronto and Artefactual! Inspired by similar events like Hydra Camp, Islandora Camp and Fedora Camp, AtoM Camp is intended to provide a space for anyone interested in or currently using AtoM to come together, learn about the platform from other users, and share their experiences. We'll include topics for all user levels and of interest to all user types - archivists, system administrators, and developers. Come connect with regional AtoM users, learn some new tricks, and explore Toronto with us!

For more information on the schedule, social events, local arrangements, and more, please visit our wiki page.

FAQs

What's the refund policy?

Refunds are available up to thirty days before the Camp starts - that is, until July 31st, 2018.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, it's not necessary - we'll have your name on our list of registrants, and your name badge and other goodies will be ready for pickup at the registration desk!

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Please get in touch with us if this applies to you, so we can update our records and know who to expect in Toronto. Thanks!

The schedule is not on the wiki yet - how can I decide if I'll want to attend?

If the schedule has not been added yet, fear not, it will be soon! In the meantime, we suggest you take a look at the wiki pages for our previous Camps in Vancouver and Cambridge to get an idea of what to expect. Feel free to send us an email if you have further questions.

What do I need to bring?

You'll need your own laptop if you want to participate in the hands-on exercises. If you're bringing a work laptop, try to ensure that you have the ability to download and install on the computer you bring. For developers interested in hands-on learning, we recommend arriving with the AtoM Vagrant box already installed - check out our documentation and slides for installation and configuration details.

How much experience do I need to have with AtoM before attending?

None! We try to structure the camps in such a way that we start with the basics and build up knowledge over the course of the Camp. For advanced users this might mean a bit of review on the first day, but our previous Camps have shown that even experienced users learn something new from these sessions. We will be assuming at least a basic familiarity with archival terminology and practices such as arrangement and description, etc.
