Description

Atlanta’s March towards Black Civil Rights; Sweet Auburn Edition will travel to sites associated with Black Atlanta organizing during the Civil Rights Struggle. We will understand how post Civil War Atlanta made its transition into the New South Era, the formation of Black communities and how institutions, civic organizations, and business entrepreneurs in the post-Reconstruction era gave Black Atlanta stability and strength throughout the Jim Crow South. Stops of significance will include buildings and green spaces, we will discuss culture, art, and architecture and sites related to the Civil Rights movement people, organizations, and events.
