About this event
The Commercial Buildings Energy Efficiency Ordinance requires owners of commercial and multifamily buildings over 25,000 square feet to benchmark energy and water consumption on an annual basis. Without taking this step, many opportunities to improve the economic performance and resource efficiency of a building are overlooked; as the saying goes, you can’t manage what you don’t measure. Benchmarking information is reported to the City annually, where it's made publicly available to inform the market – better decisions will be made with more robust information, creating a better-functioning marketplace. Every 10 years, these buildings are also required to undertake an energy audit, where a professional walks through the building and makes recommendations on how to improve the efficiency and operation of the building. Owners are free to choose which, if any, of these recommendations to implement; the point is to understand the potential for improvement and allow owners to make the best business decisions.
This training event will provide guidance on:
- An overview of the requirements of Atlanta's Commercial Buildings Energy Efficiency Ordinance.
- How to achieve compliance.
- What energy and water benchmarking is.
- What an energy audit is and what to do with the findings of an energy audit.
- Address any questions about the Ordinance’s compliance requirements.

- Via Interstate 75/85 Southbound - Take exit #249D, North Avenue, take a left at top of the ramp and cross over the interstate. Proceed four blocks and take a right on Juniper/Courtland Ave. Proceed three blocks and take a left on Pine St., Southface is 1½ blocks on your right.

Turn north (left) on Piedmont Ave., proceed one long block. Turn east (right) on Pine St, go one-half block. Southface is on your right.

- Exit at the Peachtree Center Station on the north/south MARTA line at the Baker St./Harris St. turnstiles. Proceed north on Peachtree St. away from downtown and walk to Ralph McGill Blvd. Turn east (right) on Ralph McGill Blvd, proceed two blocks. Turn north (left) on Piedmont Ave., proceed one long block. Turn east (right) on Pine St, go one-half block – Southface is on your right.
