Description

Description

This course explores biomechanics of causative factors leading to soft tissue dysfunctions in Achilles Tendonitis, Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction, etc. Treating soft tissue dysfunction in adult populations has been a challenge in both physical therapy modalities and orthotic intervention. Physical therapy goals focus on improving soft tissue range of motion, strength, and healing. Current orthotic management that focuses on immobilization is not synergisitic with therapy goals. New orthotic concepts will be presented that supplement and more closely correlate to the physical therapy goals of management.

Dinner will be provided.

Objectives

  • Identify causative factors leading to disruption of the Achilles and posterior tibial tendons.

  • Describe impact of immobilization on these structures.

  • Knowledge of orthotic interventions that allow more appropirate healing to occur.

  • Describe the anticipated outcomes utilizing a controlled stress orthotic device.
