ATARC Next Generation Mobile Innovation Lab Meeting
On November 21, the Mobile Services Category Team (MSCT) released the final version of its Mobile Services Roadmap, which can be downloaded via the ATARC Web site:
This outstanding document is a must-read for anyone that is a part of the Federal mobile ecosystem as it defines the next generation strategy of government-wide mobile acquisition and includes a discussion on using a category management strategy to increase efficiency in mobile acquisition and management.
The Mobile Services Roadmap also includes a list of 10 sub-components of mobility:
● APIs/Data Tools/Big Data/Open Data
● Application Vetting & Application Security
● BYOD/Virtualized Mobile Security
● Connected Endpoints
● Mobile Device & Application Management
● TEMS/Lifecycle Management/Mobile Brokerage
● Mobile Back-end-as-a-Service (MBaaS)
● PIV/CAC/Derived Credentials
● Emerging Technology
If you attended meetings of the ATARC Next Generation Mobile Innovation Lab over the summer, you may remember a collaborative exercise where the group compiled a list of potential Mobile topic areas. The MSCT used this important feedback from our group in shaping their list of sub-components.
Now comes the fun part.
ATARC will begin organizing technical working groups around the 10 mobile sub-components listed above to assist the MSCT as they define the technological landscape within these areas and identify the contract vehicles that can be used for government agencies to procure this technology.
The kickoff meeting for this effort will be held on Wednesday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the USDA office in Patriots Plaza III in Washington, D.C.
Members of the Mobile Services Category Team will be in attendance to give an overview of the Mobile Services Roadmap and receive feedback from industry as we begin to define and discuss the 10 Mobile sub-components.
