Speaker: Antoine Halff. Director, Global Oil Markets at the Center on Global Energy Policy Columbia University

Antoine Halff is director of the global oil program and a senior research scholar at the Center on Global Energy Policy, Columbia University, where he leads a major new research initiative on peak oil demand. He is also a co-founder of Kayrros, a data analytics company focusing on the energy sector that leverages satellite imagery and machine learning to generate forecasts and real-time data on oil and gas supply, demand, transportation and storage. Previously, he was chief oil analyst at the International Energy Agency; lead industry analyst at the US Energy Information Administration; and head of commodities research at Newedge, a joint venture of French international banks Société Générale and Crédit Agricole. In 2005, he established the global energy practice of political-risk consultancy Eurasia Group, and served as its director. A graduate of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, he taught courses on the geopolitics of energy and related topics as an adjunct professor of International & Public Affairs at Columbia University from 2006 to 2012. He has lived in New York, Washington, Paris and Seoul. Halff is the co-editor of Energy Poverty: Global Challenges and Local Solutions (Oxford University Press, 2014), which Bill Clinton called “a must-read for anyone serious about creating meaningful solutions to end poverty.”
