Event description

Description

Please join service providers, educators, social service agencies and community members for a facilitated workshop to strengthen our community response to at-risk and homeless youth. There is a shared concern that we need to increase connections to services for at-risk youth, improve education and job readiness opportunities. Workshop to be facilitated by Jack Burgess.

Goals for the Wiorkshop.

1) Establish better connection between the agencies that provide or could provide services to at-risk youth

2) Improve understanding of the extent of the at-risk and homeless youth population

- Agree upon a working definition of at-risk

- Identify the estimated number of at-risk youth (ages 16-24)

3) Better understand the network available to at-risk youth

4) Begin to map the system:

  • What services are available?
  • Who is doing what?
  • What is working?
  • What are the gaps?
  • How could we collaborate?
  • How can we better connect youth to existing services?

5) Determine next steps – How could we go forward? (Short-term goals)
