Asylum Journey HackDay
Sat, April 22, 2017, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM BST
'Please come and join us for a day, to work on the 'Asylum Journey' and make sure it is a really effective resource for people working with asylum seekers and refugees in Sheffield. We need both tech people and people who are helping and supporting asylum seekers and refugees to come and help.
The 'Hack Day' for the Asylum Journey is on Saturday 22nd April from 10 am to 5pm times, at “Union St”, the Co-Working office/workspace at 18-20 Union Street, Sheffield, S1 2JP (https://www.union-st.org/) . Its very central in Sheffield near the Council Offices
We plan to:
- improve the content by updating and adding new information. We would especially welcome people who know more about the support available for children, and for people in detention.
- make technical improvements to the system for updating information
- make it more user-friendly and add extra features
On the “Tech” side we're looking for people with skills in UX, UI, AngularJS, CSS, and PHP. We'll be looking at improving and adding new features to the existing Angular website, plus adding auth to the API. You can check out the front and back end Asylum Journey repos at https://github.com/Sheffugees.
Please let us know what skills you have when you register
On the “Experts” side, In addition, to the people supporting asylum seekers and refugees who have helped with the Content of the Asylum Journey before, we are also keen that new people familiar with children's services and/or supporting people in detention, should also attend this time. You can check out the website at http://asylumjourney.sheffugees.org/#/tool
Please let us know what services you are familiar with when you register
A limited number of places are available so please book up as soon as possible.
