ASU Faculty Women's Association Special Keynote Event: "The Case for Diversity and Inclusion in American Higher Education" presented by Dr. Johnnetta Cole, Director for the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art and former President of Spelman College and Bennett College for Women.

Seating for the lecture will open at 5:15PM and light refreshments will be served.  The lecture will begin promptly at 6:00PM.  We request that all guests arrive by 5:45PM to select their seat.

This event is co-sponsored by the Office of the University Provost, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, CLAS Office for the Dean of Humanities, Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, WP Carey School of Business, Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, College of Health Solutions, Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, College of Letters and Sciences, School of Human Evolution and Social Change, School of Social Transformation, School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies, Department of English, and the Committee for Campus Inclusion

Information on Dr. Johnnetta Cole:
Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole is the director of the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, the collection of which contains over 10,000 objects of various media and art forms representing nearly every area of the African continent. Before assuming her current position, she had a long and distinguished career as an educator and humanitarian. Through her work as a college president and university professor and through her published works, speeches, and community service, she has consistently addressed racial, gender, and all other forms of inequality. Dr. Cole made history in 1987 when she became the first African American woman to serve as president of Spelman College and later became President of Bennett College for Women.
