Event description

Description

Please join us for an enjoyable afternoon of good conversation and light refereshments at Astro Symposium, a convivial quarterly gathering with special presentations and discussions on astrological insights related to the themes of LFAC’s exhibits.

Astro Symposium for November 12 is based on LFAC’s current exhibit Art: The Language of Community which runs from 9/10/17 - 1/10/18. We will explore astrological factors related to community. Our presenters are Summer Hale and Alan Salmi. We'll be looking at the attendees’ charts to see how the astrology of community works for you. This event is for all who are interested in astrology and/or the theme (community) and how astrology's ancient wisdom can help us understand our relationship to community. It is helpful, but is not required, to have previous experience with astrology to attend this gathering.

Summer Hale "Above the Horizon: The Interpersonal Houses and how Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn Symbolize the Way We Interact and Relate to Society and our Community"

Alan Salmi – The 5th house of creativity, procreation, sex, art and how it relates to the 11th house of friends and community.

Art: The Language of Community explores how the arts bond a community and become its language. The culture of a community is often synonymous with the arts of that community. Music, dance, poetry, writing, storytelling, theater, visual art, fashion, customs, food, festivals, mythology, spiritual beliefs and practices interweave to distinguish a community. Artistic traditions are passed down within a community, and there is a development of the culture through the generations; the history of the community can be seen in the history of its art. The arts are often used for the purpose of creating community. For example, murals created by a neighborhood group; interfaith poetry writing; dance and music that bring elders and children together.
