Description

Phyllis Klaus, LMFT, LMSW is our guest speaker. Ms. Klaus is a licensed Marriage, Family, Therapist and Clinical Social Worker who currently teaches and practices in Palo Alto, CA. She is a founder of DONA International and Pattch (Prevention and Treatment of Traumatic Childbirth). She consults and gives workshops nationally and internationally. She is co-author of Your Amazing Newborn, Mothering the Mother, Bondng, The Doula Book and When Survivors Give Birth.

Session Objectives will include the importance of helping mothers attach to their babies in utero.Understanding how unresolved traumatic or negative experiences from the mother's uterine life can affect the pregnancy. Recognize how distress from birth or prenatal life trauma can reverberate into adult life. Ways to help the mother and partner feel more connected to their baby. How prenatal bonding may help mother with her birth. How prenatal interventions and healing can have long term positive effects on the infant and on parents.

Contact Hours: 7.5

Continuing education credits will be distributed prior to departure to all who complete the program. Successful completion includes attendance at the entire event and submission of evaluation form.

Event open to all RN's, Midwives, Doulas, Childbirth Educators, and Perinatal Therapists.

We welcome Nursing students and Residency Program RN'S.
