Event Details

At a time of much economic and social change more and more artists are finding themselves seeking new models to fund their arts practice that exist outside of institutions. These inevtiable changes leave many of us left to find our own resources, including applying for individual grants and further developing systems for modern-day patronage.
As I continue to build my career as an International Artist and Workshop Facilitator I have realized how important this fundraising process has become to my survival as an artist and culture maker.
I believe the arts have the power to shift culture in a more positive direction and my projects reflect that passion. I too have recently struck out on my own as an artist both by leaving my job as a youth development worker at a non-profit social services agency and made a choice to close the non-profit theatre company that I had managed.
Artist Statement
I am a performance artist, workshop facilitator, curator and activist. I am interested in the consequences of conflict and how individual authenticity is affected by hierarchical systems, trauma and culture. My socially engaged performances and events include elements of improvisation, physical theatre, and mind-body centering. I use movement, choreographic systems, story, space (site-specific) and participatory activities to explore these themes.

I am currently seeking funding and donations to help fund the following projects in process for the rest of 2015:
Social Hypnosis (fundraising goal of $1500.00)
  • costs for travel for myself and my co-facilitator Camille Revol (French Dancer and Movement Practitioner)
  • costs to develop this work in workshop model here in Chicago this June and Fall 2015
*Space for continuing this work has already been offered in collaboration with international artist Yolanda Gutierrez
At The Table (fundraising goal of $1000.00)
  •  admistrative support in preparation for our At The Table Series in Fall 2015
*Space for a portion of this event series has already been offered in collaboration with Links Hall

  • administrative support and offsetting space rental for offering international workshops at low cost to artists in financial need
  • support my professional development as an artist to take workshops and continue to hone my skills in performance art, choreography and movement based practices

As a thanks for your dontation:
  • Gifts of $100-250 will be personally listed on my website and all performance and event programs for 2015
  • Gifts of $250-500 will be personally listed on my website and all performance and event programs for 2015 AND recieve a personalized thank you and postcard (with a photo of works in progress)

*All funders will be invited to a special dinner in September (date TBA) where I will share my experiences with Social Hypnosis in Germany (August 2015). This dinner will also serve as a kick-off to the At The Table Series this fall.
Please wish me luck as I apply to the following grants for additional funding for these works in progress:
Propeller Fund, DCASE (professional development), American Dance Abroad, BURN, The Pollination Project
Through a parternship with Fractured Atlas I will be a fiscally sponsored artist this summer (June 15th) which means that donors can enjoy tax write-off benefits. Stay tuned for more information about that donation option.
