REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT BEGINS IN JANUARY 2016
0.3 CEU's available for this workshop for Rose State College Faculty
Do you know that many test questions give away the answer? Did you realize that even if you use the publisher test bank you may NOT be assessing the correct learning objectives? Instead, items in test banks can focus on minor details that are more like trivia questions, than assessment of core learning concepts. With a little bit of information and a few simple tips you can edit a test bank or create questions to ensure that they are measuring what is necessary for your course, as well as utilizing your student's critical thinking skills.
In addition, we will share information on testing statistics and how to use the information to assess the validity and reliability of your questions. Even if you don't conduct high stakes testing, the results will help you identify questions that might need to be improved or removed. Which is always great insight!!
Desired Learning Goals
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Recognize and discuss the anatomy of a Multiple Choice question
- Edit test bank questions in Brightspace to better assess learning objectives and increase validity
- Utilize test statistics to review the effectiveness of testing or quizzing items
