Event description

Description

The focus of this session is on learning how to accurately assess the function of challenging behavior in school contexts, and using that information to create sustainable behavior intervention plans that are contextually appropriate. Educational and Clinically-trained presenters will provide information on tools that school staff can utilize to conduct functional assessments that include both indirect and direct behavior data. Attendees will also learn about how to develop behavior intervention plans that utilize evidence-based practices to support behavior change. This includes creating proactive strategies, targeted teaching strategies to ensure skill-development, and reinforcement systems to support the use of prosocial behaviors. Restorative approaches to managing challenging behaviors will also be discussed. Finally, attendees will leave with information about how to support fidelity of implementation of these behavior intervention plans.
