Assessing Suicide Risk will help professionals in behavioral and health care environments to intervene with a person thinking about suicide.

About this Event

Engaging in conversation with a client about suicide, if you or your agency is not prepared, can be an overwhelming experience. This training will help prepare you to work with individuals at risk for suicide.

In this training, participants will learn about:

• Scope of the suicide problem in the state of Florida and nationally

• Warning signs and risk factors for suicide

• Protective and resiliency factors to reduce suicide risk

• Zero Suicide Initiative

• Evidence-based and validated tools for screening and assessing suicide risk

• Strategies to conduct a suicide risk assessment interview, including engagement and communication techniques

• Ways to formulate and determine level of risk

• Best practice strategies to document a suicide risk assessment

• Briefly cover safety planning tools as a strategy to formulate risk
