Event description

Description

Autism Spectrum Disorder is an area that few clinicians feel like they have a comfortable level of knowledge to draw from when assessing clients. This is a unique opportunity to learn and discuss cases and gain experience with diagnostic tools.

Diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex task; where skill and accuracy matters. CDC studies have identified 1 in 68 children as having autism spectrum disorder (ASD). As professional counselors, we have a statutory and ethical obligation to get it right. An ASD diagnosis can have an enormous impact on academics, disability, legal concerns, medication management and how you provide care and treatment. We will learn about assessment tools, neurology, treatment options, and legal matters.

Assessments tools covered include:

  • Intelligence Testing - Shipley 2nd Edition
  • Personality Testing - Behavior Assessment System for Children 3rd Edition
  • Adaptive Functioning - Vineland 3rd Edition
  • Executive Functioning - Comprehensive Executive Function Inventory
  • ASD Specific Tests - Autism Spectrum Rating Scale
  • Continuous Performance Tasks - Integrated Visual and Auditory Continous Performance Task

We will also discuss and review treatment planning for Autism Spectrum Disorder, and current research for best practices when working with people on the spectrum.

Invest in yourself, your staff, and your clients by attending this exclusive 1-day event, and receive 7 hours of CEUs (1 hour of Ethics), and multiple handouts and Interviews that you can use immediately with your clients.
