Event description

Description

In 2016, Pierce College was awarded an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) grant that provides us the opportunity to build our outreach, retention and completion efforts for underserved Asian American and Pacific Islander, and low-income students. As a result, our staff and community stakeholders from the local region coordinated the ASPIRE Summit as an opportunity to convene students, parents and teachers/faculty members for a day of important dialogue and learning about the unique strengths and challenges that Asian American and Pacific Islander students face as it relates to education.

Through a series of speakers, workshops and a community resource fair, the ASPIRE Summit aims to:

  • Engage a community of students, family, educators to support the needs of students and their educational success.

  • Equip a community of students, family and educators with tangible skills and tools to support AAPI students through high school and their post-secondary plans.

  • Empower and inspire youth leadership through providing students with a vision of their future and opportunities for advocacy.
